No shop to drive to. I come to you.

Computer trouble? I'll come to you.

I fix computers for people and small businesses around Philadelphia. I come to your house or your office. If I can fix it over the internet instead, I will, and you save the trip. No drop-off counter. No ticket number. No talking down to you.

Not sure what's wrong? That's fine. Just ask.

The usual suspects

If it plugs in, I've probably fixed one.

Ten years of house calls and office visits and it's mostly the same twenty problems. Here's what people ring me about. If yours isn't on the list, ask anyway.

At home

Laptops, desktops, and the family computer

  • It's gotten really slow
  • It won't turn on
  • Pop-ups, viruses, and scam warnings
  • Cracked screen, dead keyboard, bad battery
  • I think I lost my photos data recovery
  • New computer, move everything over
  • The Wi-Fi drops in the back bedroom
  • The printer, again

At your business

Offices, shops, and studios with no IT person

  • Office network and Wi-Fi that holds up
  • New computers set up and ready to go
  • Backups that actually work tested, not assumed
  • Email, domains, and accounts sorted out
  • Basic security done properly
  • Moving offices without losing a day
  • Registers, scanners, and everything attached
  • Someone to call when it breaks
$125/hr

Same rate whether I drive to you or fix it over the internet. Anything past an hour gets one flat price up front, agreed before I start. The first call costs you nothing, and if it's a two minute fix I'll usually just talk you through it.

Dead simple

How this actually works.

1

Ring me and describe it

However it comes out is fine. "It makes a noise and then it stops" tells me more than you'd think. I answer my own phone, and if I'm under someone's desk I'll call you back the same day.

2

I come to you

Your kitchen table or your office, at a time that suits you. Plenty of it I can do remotely instead, which is quicker for both of us and costs you the same.

3

You hear the price before I touch it

I tell you what it needs and what it costs first. If it's not worth fixing I'll say so, even though that means I don't get the work.

Worth saying out loud

Things I won't do.

This trade has a reputation and most of it is earned. The Better Business Bureau puts out warnings about it. So here is what you will never get from me.

  • ×I won't invent a problem. If your machine is fine, I'll tell you it's fine and charge you for the call, not a cure.
  • ×I won't touch the antivirus you already pay for so I can sell you mine. I don't sell software subscriptions at all.
  • ×I won't go through your files. You're welcome to sit there and watch the whole job. Most people do.
  • ×I won't take your computer away unless it genuinely has to come with me, and you'll know exactly why before it does.
  • ×I won't cold call you saying your computer is infected. Nobody legitimate ever does. If you get that call, hang up.
  • ×I won't hide the price. Every rate I charge is published on this site, which is more than most shops around here will do.
Who calls me

Neighbors, small businesses, and people who want a better machine.

Households

One computer, one problem, one visit. No contract, no jargon, and nobody making you feel daft for asking.

Small businesses

Offices and shops with no IT staff. Most managed IT around here runs $100 to $250 per person per month. My plans are flat and cover the whole place.

Builds and upgrades

Gaming rigs, work machines, more memory, faster drives. I'll tell you honestly where spending more stops making a difference.

The other half: I build websites too.

Same person, same phone number. Most shops fix your laptop and that's where it ends. If your business also needs a site that brings work in, you don't have to go and find somebody else.

Why me

I'm the person friends and family have always called.

Ten years of it before it was ever a job. Parents, neighbors, friends of neighbors. The degrees came after. What I care about is that you understand what broke and what I did, so you're not just taking my word for it.

Not sure it's even worth fixing?

That's exactly what the first call is for, and it's free. Tell me what it's doing and I'll give you a straight answer: quick fix, bigger job, or time to let it go.
